Connected Consumer Survey 2020: Digital Services in Emerging Asia-Pacific
Published: April 29, 2021 Content info: 8 Slides

"24% of respondents in EMAP are willing to share their data with their operator (up from 13% in 2019), which reflects the increased trust generated by operators' response to the COVID-19 pandemic."

This report focuses on aspects of Analysys Mason's Connected Consumer Survey that relate to the behaviour, preferences and plans of smartphone users in emerging Asia-Pacific (EMAP). In particular, it focuses on respondents' usage of digital services such as e-commerce and payments.

This report:

  • discusses the main e-commerce trends in EMAP, including the type of devices that consumers use to purchase goods online and the barriers to further m-commerce penetration
  • discusses the payment mechanisms favoured by consumers for e-commerce and physical commerce and how often consumers use m-wallets for physical commerce
  • identifies the most popular m-wallet solutions in the region
  • provides insights into the organisations that consumers in the region are most willing to trust.

Survey data coverage

The research was conducted between August and September 2020. The survey groups were chosen to be representative of the mobile-internet-using population in the region. We set quotas on age, gender and geographical spread to that effect. There was a minimum of 1500 respondents per country, and 6000 respondents in the region.
