Consumer mobile spending has increased significantly over the past decade, but a significant proportion of mobile commerce bypasses communications service providers (CSPs). Many CSPs have considered implementing mobile wallets as a means of entering the mobile money space, but growth has been impeded by regulatory bottlenecks and increasing competition. Consequently, CSPs have adopted a cautious approach before making any significant investment.
OVERVIEW OF A TYPICAL CSP-LED MOBILE WALLET DEPLOYMENT
John Abraham (Senior Analyst) is part of the BSS practice in Analysys Mason's Telecoms Software Research team. He leads our Revenue Management programme and contributes to mobile money research for the Digital Economy Software Strategies programme. John has been part of the telecoms industry since 2006, and joined Analysys Mason in early 2012. He has worked on a range of telco projects in Africa, Europe, India and the Middle East. Before joining Analysys Mason, he worked for Subex, a provider of BSS offerings. John holds a bachelor's degree in computer science from Anna University (India) and an MBA from Bradford University School of Management (UK).
Stela Bokun (Manager) is part of the Telecoms Software research team at Analysys Mason, where she leads custom research for clients and contributes to a range of published research. Stela has been closely following mobile payments market for more than 7 years and has published various reports in this area. As a TMT consultant, Stela has worked with a wide range of mobile financial services projects for clients, including operators, regulators, industry bodies and vendors.
