Key View:

We have revised up our mobile and wireline broadband growth forecasts slightly as Thailand continues to see stronger than expected growth. Maturity and a slow but gradual shift away from multi-SIM ownership form our core view of the mobile market, although organic growth, albeit little, is still expected, attributed in part to tourist SIMs. Competition to migrate 3G subscribers to 4G will persist in the near term, incurring higher costs for marketing expenses and handset subsidies. Wireline voice connections are in constant decline, although the wireline broadband market will see growth as ISPs commit to fibrerisation. Recently concluded spectrum auctions will allow operators to develop 4G coverage to audiences in rural areas.
