Malaysia Telecommunications Q2 2020
Published: February 4, 2020 Content info: 60 Pages

Key View:

We hold a bullish view on Malaysia's fixed broadband segment following the approval of the National Fiberisation Plan in August 2019, coupled with directives from the telecoms regulator in late 2018 for operators to introduce more competitive broadband tariffs. We believe that fibre will be the preferred choice of technology for ISPs, although 5G will likely be seen as a good solution for the last-mile connectivity problem in rural areas. Wireline voice will continue to see declines, as mobile substitution in the consumer segment will cause the majority of connections to be enterprise-based.
