Potential for growth in the Indonesian telecommunications sector remains positive, with a bright spot being rising adoption of mobile data services. Rising disposable incomes and the growing proliferation of affordable smartphoneslend support to our view. Aggressive infrastructure deployment programmes in terms of 4G-capable base stations and fibre-optic cables will improve Indonesia's national broadband landscape, although Indonesia's archipelagicnature means that 100% nationwide coverage will likely require reliance on satellite-based networks. In addition, the proliferation of mobile connections would have a dampening effect on demand for fixed broadband services. We have, therefore, raised our forecasts for 3G/4G adoption and reined in our expectations for overall broadband subscription growth.
