Indonesia Telecommunications Q2 2019
Published: January 29, 2019 Content info: 44 Pages

Key View:

Deactivation of unregistered SIMs has impacted the mobile market, which we estimated shrunk by 20.3% since Q118, or a loss of over 68.5mn subscribers. We maintain that growth potential in the sector remains strong, with rising adoption of mobile data services being the bright spot. Wide-scale infrastructure deployments such as the Palapa Ring project, set to come online in the first quarter of 2019 will be a boost to improving last-mile connectivity and growing bandwidth to motivate the uptake of broadband connections, both fixed and mobile. Narrowband voice connections, however, will continue to see rapid decline owing to the improving quality and affordability of mobile alternatives.
