Following Structural Adjustment plans, the Egyptian economy strengthen in 2019. The floatability of the Egyptian currency was a necessary evil to bring the reality back on track for a healthy economy. As a result, the inflation was finally under controlled. Moreover, the exchange rate in 2019 was in favour to the Egyptian Pounds. With the end of tight control of foreign currencies from the banking system - as the country has reconstituted its federal foreign reserves - and more liquidity available in the country, the construction sector was one of the first sector that benefit from this overall improvement of the economic environment.

This led the bathroom sector to expand further after 3 years of constant decline. In addition to intense construction activities in the residential sector, the tourism sector drags sales of bathroom products, with more construction projects such as hotels, destinated to develop this sector. With security threats under control as well as a lower Egyptian currency (due to the devaluation, and despite the small rebound mentioned above), these two elements contributed to attract more tourists and investors.

Massive projects, such as the construction of a new administrative capital, should help the bathroom market to expand in the coming years at a very positive CAGR. However, the pandemic of the coronavirus Covid-19 should impact the year 2020, as the curfew imposed by the government, the postponement of the completion for some projects, the temporarily shut down of ceramic sanitary ware manufacturers, and the possible shortage in supply for faucets and other imported products (due to the impact of this pandemic on manufacturers of supplying countries) constitute a threat for the bathroom market, that may decline in 2020 but all depends on how fast the recovery will take place.
