The worldwide consumption of LED based lighting fixtures is worth USD 41.8 billion in 2016, approximately 46.8% of the world total lighting fixtures consumption, and according to CSIL estimates, it will reach USD 74.2 billion in 2021. In the coming years, it is expected that commercial and outdoor lighting will be the main drivers for growth (over 20% each in five years).
One hundred among the top manufacturers of lighting fixtures worldwide hold around 55% of the total LED lighting market, registering an average 20% growth during 2016. On a wider time span (2012-2016) the average growth rate for LED luminaires in this sample of companies has been 25%-30%. “Better” 50 players show an average 16% EBITDA.
LED lighting fixtures weighted just 5%-6% on the overall lighting fixtures market in 2008-2009. In the year 2016 they weight around 47% on the overall lighting fixtures market, and their share is forecasted by CSIL to grow up to 67% for the year 2021.
