Chronic Myeloid Leukemia (CML) - Epidemiology Forecast to 2030

Chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) (ICD-10 = C92.1) is a rare cancer of the white blood cells characterized by increased and unregulated growth of myeloid cells originating in the bone marrow that invade the blood and potentially other organs, depending on the phase of the cancer (American Cancer Society, 2018; Mayo Clinic, 2021). In CML, a genetic change takes place in an early (immature) version of myeloid cells, the cells that make red blood cells, platelets, and most types of white blood cells (except lymphocytes).
