The market registered 820 deals worth US$124.6 billion in Q4 2017, as compared to 835 deals worth US$168 billion in Q3 2017. Asset transactions in the power industry constituted the largest segment with 162 deals which accounted for 20% of the total deals in Q4 2017 followed by M&As with 161 deals representing 19% and asset finance with 153 deals during the same period. North America registered a decrease in the number of deals and in deal value with 222 deals worth US$37 billion in Q4 2017, as compared to 247 deals worth US$89.8 billion in Q3 2017. Solar energy market topped the table in the number of deals with 328 in Q4 2017, followed by wind energy and fossil fuel markets with 237 and 150 deals, respectively. Credit Suisse Group AG was ranked at the top of the M&A advisory table for advising on acquisitions, divestures and mergers of power companies and assets with 14 M&A transactions worth US$9.4 billion in the power industry between Q4 2016 and Q4 2017.
