Worldwide Used Smartphone Forecast, 2021-2025

This IDC study provides a five-year forecast of the worldwide used smartphone market and its expansion and growth by 2025. This study provides an updated market forecast, based upon changes that will impact resellers, OEMs vendors, carriers, and consumers."The 2021 rebound from the pandemic continues to positively impact the used market as an increase in trade-ins feeds the supply of refurbished devices in the secondary market," says Anthony Scarsella, research director for IDC's Mobile Phone program. "Increased consumer appetite for used devices has put premium supply at risk as high-end devices continue to move quickly through the secondhand ecosystem. Also, the success of 5G iOS devices over the past year has helped boost iOS share as used 4G iPhones continue to perform well, particularly in emerging markets."
