This IDC study examines the 2021 market shares of the major vendors in the worldwide smart TV device market."The COVID-19 pandemic served as a net boon to the U.S. smart home market in 2020 and 2021 as consumers shifted their spending priorities in-house to overcome many of the pandemic's restrictions," says Adam Wright, senior research analyst for IDC's Smart Home and Office Devices research program. "Smart TVs have proliferated in the past few years, but growth is slowing in many regions as markets reach saturation point and supply chains continue to be strained. Long term, smart TVs face additional pressure to demonstrate value as existing capabilities are underutilized by most consumers and ancillary streaming players continue to carve out a role concurrently."
