Worldwide Server DRAM DIMM by Workload Forecast, 2020-2024
Published: February 14, 2020 Content info: 18 Pages

This IDC study presents an outlook for the server DRAM DIMM market for the 2020-2024 period. The DRAM industry dynamics and the server workload changes are aggregated, analyzed, and applied to this long-term DIMM forecast in terms of units and DRAM content per DIMM."The server DIMM market experienced some unit growth in 2019 despite slower 64GB DIMM penetration and DRAM market correction. IDC forecasts the server DIMM market will have a flat growth in 2020-2021 and restart growth to the end of the forecast period. Rich-configured memory will continue in workloads like data management, business application, VDI, and media streaming. When combined with changing server ecosystem to leverage more cloud technology, evolving process architectures, increasing AI penetration, and large system demand, it will provide a strong foundation for the DIMM market over the forecast period," said Soo-Kyoum Kim, associate vice president, IDC's Semiconductor Research Program.
