Global 5G Spectrum Report: Asia/Pacific Update
Published: October 18, 2018 Content info: 19 Pages

Regulators and local country administrations have been actively developing 5G spectrum and LTE/NR coexistence spectrum strategies that will culminate in 5G auctions and/or spectrum assignments. "The next three years will see a flurry of activity as the world's leading incumbents build out the first 5G mobile and fixed wireless access (FWA) networks. Although there are many technical and engineering obstacles, the industry is highly motivated and determined to launch commercial 5G services by 2020," says Bill Rojas, IDC Asia/Pacific Adjunct Research Director. "Moreover, IDC believes that regulators will seek to identify additional bands to assist MNOs in keeping up with mobile consumer demand as well as future 5G enterprise and IoT traffic, which could account for as much as 15-20% of future 5G traffic by 2025," he adds.
