Worldwide Cloud IT Infrastructure Hardware Forecast, 2020-2024
Published: September 9, 2020 Content info: 17 Pages
Description

This IDC study provides aggregated historical data (2015-2019) and forecast data (2020-2024) for the worldwide cloud IT infrastructure hardware market, composed of compute, storage, and datacenter networking (Ethernet switching). The forecast and historical data illustrate consumption of infrastructure hardware segmented by cloud deployment (public and private) as well as noncloud or traditional deployments. For each of these categories, IDC has estimated the end-user spending (value) on infrastructure hardware."The COVID-19 pandemic, and ensuing economic recession, has driven a surge in demand for cloud-based collaboration and communication platforms," said Kuba Stolarski, research director, Infrastructure Systems, Platforms, and Technologies at IDC. "This new demand is driving an acceleration of cloud infrastructure expansion. As enterprises delay some less essential projects and infrastructure purchases, they are investing more heavily in shorter-term business continuity needs and preserving capital by using cloud services where possible."
