The finding shows the worldwide mobile phone shipment volume declined further year-on-year to around 460.4 million units in the first quarter of 2016, owing largely in part to the declining market demand. Though Apple continued to lead the market in the first quarter, it is expected to witness its first year-on-year shipment volume decline in 2016. When it comes to Chinese brands, Huawei witnessed an over 50% year-on-year growth in shipment volume while Oppo and Vivo have enjoyed an increasing demand from the female market. Despite slowing market demand, shipment volume of the global smartphone industry is estimated to still post a 4.2% year-on-year growth to approximately 1.5 billion units in 2016.
