Pressure sensitive adhesive (PSA) is a relatively thin flexible adhesive either single or double side coated. PSA will adhere to a variety of substrates when applied to most clean and dry surfaces with pressure. Pressure sensitive adhesives do not require solvent, water, or heat to activate the adhesive. The bond is directly influenced by the amount of pressure which is used to apply the adhesive to the surface.
Pressure sensitive adhesives (PSA) are used in many different applications with new uses being discovered almost daily. PSA use will continue to grow as a solution to fastening and joining due to advances in adhesive technology, ease of use, and its low cost compared to traditional fastening system. The growing demand from the end user applications forms the driving force for pressure sensitive adhesives market.
The pressure sensitive adhesives market has been segmented by formulation, type, application and geography exclusively. The pressure sensitive adhesives market is divided into four categories based on the formulation, which include, water based PSA, solvent based PSA, hot melt based PSA, and radiation cure based PSA. Based on the types pressure sensitive adhesives commercially available, the market is categorized into ethylene-vinyl acetate, acrylics, silicone, rubber, styrene block copolymers and others. Each type varies greatly and the composition is different with different technical specifications. The key user segments include industrial tapes, specialty tapes, medical tapes, labels and others.
The overall market is also presented from the perspective of different geographic regions and the key countries in each region. The market has been segmented in to four regions North America, Europe, Asia-pacific and Rest of the World.
