The quartz market of Europe is estimated to record a CAGR of 5.08% over the forecast period, 2020-2028. The growth in the construction sector is one of the primary factors for the increasing demand for quartz in the region.
The European quartz market is segregated further into the market regions of Germany, Russia, the UK, Poland, France, Italy, Belgium, and the rest of Europe that includes Romania, Spain, Sweden, Norway, Netherlands, Slovakia, and Portugal among others. In Russia, the demand from electronics and electrical is expected to increase gradually, with the demand for smart mobiles and TV, in turn, propelling the demand for quartz in the country. Though the construction industry experienced negligible growth, the renovation of thousands of housing blocks in Moscow is driving the demand. In countries like Belgium, despite significant construction projects taking place with growing investments, the demand for quartz is estimated to grow moderately because of the continuing geopolitical tensions. Belgium witnessed the most considerable growth in terms of solar demand between 2009 and 2012. As per APERE, Belgium deployed 367MV of new solar capacity in 2018, which amounted to a 103MV rise on the capacity added in 2017.
In Poland, the construction industry is predicted to grow by over 10% annually by 2020, and the value of the construction market may reach a record level. There has been a rise in PV project capacity observed in the last two years. Spain produces and processes the quartz for domestic usage and exports. The electronics and electrical industry recorded positive growth owing to government initiatives. Sweden owns facilities for the production of quartz. Huge investments are made for PV energy generation and significant construction projects in the country.
Elkem ASA, Compagnie de Saint-Gobain S.A., Heraeus Holding GMBH, Ferroglobe PLC, Nordic Mining ASA, etc. are some of the prominent companies functioning in the market.
