An on-board charger (OBC) is a device that charges the traction battery of an electric vehicle (EV), a hybrid electric vehicle (HEV), or a plug-in hybrid car. The on-board charger of an electric car transforms the grid's AC input to a DC input, which is then used to charge the battery.
