The Middle-East & Africa in-flight entertainment and connectivity market is expected to register a CAGR of 5%, during the forecast period. The Middle-East countries, such as UAE, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar and others, operate some of the most famous airlines in the world that include Emirates, Qatar Airways, Oman Air, and Etihad, which ferry a large number of passengers every day. Most of these airlines are planning to equip their new aircraft fleet with in-flight entertainment and connectivity systems. South Africa, Nigeria and Kenya are some of the key markets in Africa for in-flight entertainment systems. Nigeria, which has surpassed South Africa as the biggest economy in Africa, is a huge potential market with increasing disposable incomes and high population. Owing to these factors, the Nigerian aviation industry is poised to register high growth rates in the future. However, low-cost airlines are experiencing fast growth rates in the market, which could limit the potential growth of IFE market in the region. By the end of 2015, approximately 75 airlines had installed or planned to install inflight entertainment and connectivity systems on board.
The Middle-East & Africa In-flight entertainment and connectivity market is expected to increase, led by United Arab Emirates, whose carrier Emirates has one of the largest fleets of aircraft with IFE Screens, in the world; the new generation ICE System of Emirates offer the largest screens. The airline carried out massive upgrade of the systems, which has boosted the in-flight entertainment and connectivity market in the region. Iran, which recently purchased 114 Airbus aircraft, will be the fastest-growing in the region, as the lifting of sanctions against the country and the increasing tourism will boost the aviation sector. In the future, new orders will directly lead the growth in the Iran market. Turkish Airlines placed an order for 167 new aircraft. At present, airlines are spending around USD 20 million every year on the IFE content and the IFE business is driven by first-run feature films.
Key Players: Rockwell Collins, Thales Group, Viasat, Panasonic Avionics Coporation, UTC Aerospace Systems, among others.
