Quantum Technology - four markets, one research programme
Quantum technology is not one market. It is four - quantum computing, quantum sensing, quantum communications and quantum software - each with distinct customers, technology maturity curves and commercial timelines. FMI's Quantum Technology vertical covers all four, together with the enabling supply chain: quantum materials, cryogenics, single-photon components, control electronics, post-quantum cryptography and the investment, funding and national-programme landscape that shapes the industry.
Our subscribers use this research to set quantum strategy, evaluate qubit modalities, benchmark vendors, scope investment and M&A, write policy on national quantum programmes and export controls, plan post-quantum-cryptography migration and identify the near-term commercial applications of quantum sensing before broader competitor awareness catches up.
Quantum is one of FMI's most active research programmes. It is where the underlying science moves fastest, where the gap between vendor claims and commercial reality is widest, and where subscribers cross-read most heavily between adjacent titles - quantum computing into cryogenics into quantum materials; quantum sensing into quantum communications into quantum networking; post-quantum cryptography into the wider quantum-safe security transition.
This prospectus sets out what the Quantum Technology subscription includes, how you access it, what it costs, and how to engage.
What a Quantum Technology subscription delivers
- Unlimited access to every FMI report in the Quantum Technology category - 30+ published titles across the past three years, spanning quantum computing (photonic, neutral-atom and other modalities), quantum sensing, quantum communications and entangled networks, quantum software and quantum machine learning, cryogenics, quantum materials, post-quantum cryptography, and the annual Quantum Investment Report & Company Directory.
- Site-wide licensing scaled to the buyer organisation - see “How you access the research”.
- Updated versions of existing reports throughout the subscription year - subscribers receive every revision and republication at no additional cost, including the annual refresh of the Quantum Investment Report & Company Directory.
- Quarterly data updates across all core forecast models in this vertical (market size, CAGR, segment shares, company league tables, investment flows).
- Excel data packs behind every forecast so subscribers can re-cut the numbers to their own segmentation.
- Quarterly subscriber-only webinars specifically on quantum technology, and inclusion of the quantum landscape in the annual TechVision 70 strategic briefing.
- Early access - subscribers receive new reports in this vertical 14 days before public release.
- Fixed annual fee of £5,000, flat across corporate, library and government buyers: no per-seat charges, no add-on fences.
How you access the research
Every subscription is delivered through a single channel: a dedicated, access-controlled file repository, hosted on an enterprise-grade, ISO 27001-certified file-sharing platform. What this involves in practice is set out below.
What the repository contains
- Every report in the Quantum Technology catalogue, organised by sub-category (quantum computing by modality, quantum sensing, quantum communications and networks, quantum software and ML, post-quantum cryptography, cryogenics and enabling hardware, quantum materials, investment and industry reports).
- Every new report and update published in this vertical during the subscription year, added on release - including the annual refresh of the Quantum Investment Report & Company Directory.
- Updated versions of existing reports as they are revised throughout the year.
- Underlying data sets in Excel and CSV where applicable.
- A subscriber landing document: reading lists, analyst contacts, enquiry procedure and update log.
- Archive folders for subscribers with perpetual-access rights (libraries and government).
How users get in
- Primary contact receives a unique permissioned link at activation.
- Additional users are added in one of three ways: named-user invitations, institutional email-domain allowlist, or IP-range allowlist.
- Federated login via OpenAthens, Shibboleth, SAML 2.0 or SSO (Azure AD / Okta / Google Workspace) is available at no extra cost.
- Users sign in once; the browser session persists. No per-report login.
How users interact with the content
- Reports are browsed through a folder tree organised by sub-category within the vertical, plus sub-folders for data packs and archive years.
- Individual files can be previewed in-browser or downloaded as PDF.
- Whole sub-category folders can be downloaded as a zip in a single operation.
- All access is logged against the subscriber record; aggregate usage reports are issued quarterly to libraries and on request to other buyers.
Hosting and data handling
- ISO 27001-certified file-sharing infrastructure.
- Data residency in the UK or EU available on request (standard is UK).
- 99.9% availability SLA measured monthly.
- Documents are tagged PDFs meeting WCAG 2.1 AA. A formal VPAT is available on request.
Onboarding - from order to first download
- Day 0: Order signed. Invoice and welcome pack issued within one business hour.
- Day 1: Repository provisioned. Primary contact receives access link and admin-dashboard credentials.
- Day 2–5: 45-minute analyst kickoff call - custom reading list of quantum reports, folder-structure walkthrough, enquiry procedure.
- Day 5–10 (libraries only): MARC21 records delivered, KBART file published, COUNTER 5 usage reporting activated.
End of term
- Corporate subscribers: repository access is revoked at term end unless renewed. Previously-downloaded PDFs remain with the subscriber.
- Library and government subscribers: retain perpetual read-only access to content published during any subscribed year, delivered through an archive folder.
