Zero Resistance Ammeter Market size was valued at US$ 230.6 Million in 2025, expanding at a CAGR of 6.1% from 2026 to 2033.
A zero-resistance ammeter is an instrument used to measure the coupling current passing between two galvanically coupled electrodes, where zero potential difference occurs. The zero-resistance ammeter belongs to the closed loop with a feedback circuit, normally it uses an op amp to balance out small voltage provided by the sample itself in order to achieve zero resistance in its electrical contact. While the zero-resistance ammeter is the whole galvanic corrosion and ECN measurement device, it measures only the quantity of the current that would pass between the two galvanically coupled electrodes in case these electrodes were connected in series, creating a short circuit with almost zero potential difference.
The designation "zero resistance" does not really show the real situation since there is some internal voltage offset in practical examples of zero resistance ammeters, and it creates a static resistance of several hundred megohms for very low currents. The quantity of current measured by ZRA is the real galvanic current that would pass through the sample electrodes in case they were connected with zero induced potential difference. Thus, the ZRA provides an accurate, undisturbed measurement of natural galvanic current flows.

Expansion Of Battery Testing Applications To Drive Market Growth
The expansion of battery testing applications is driving the Zero Resistance Ammeter market, because the increased application of batteries in electric vehicles and energy storage and other systems that are battery powered has increased the need for accurate testing of internal resistance, flow of current, and battery performance. In June 2026, according to the Renewable Energy Institute's Org report, the expansion of battery-storage applications is reflected in the rapid increase in grid-connection applications. As of December 2025, there were 172 GW of battery-storage grid connection applications and approximately 30 GW of applications at the contract application stage, with just 0.64 GW of connected capacity being operational, as per the Org report of the Renewable Energy Institute.
Additionally, in FY2025, 12,901 system impact studies applications were filed in the first half of the fiscal year, out of which more than 80% of these applications were related to grid-scale battery storage projects as against 3,600 applications last year. This surging project pipeline underscores an urgent demand for advanced ammeter testing to ensure grid-scale battery reliability.
The Global Zero Resistance Ammeter Market is segmented on the basis of Type, Application, Measurement Range, and Region.
In terms of type, single-channel zero-resistance ammeters hold a significant share in the zero-resistance ammeter market because they are used for very precise measurement of resistance, have simplicity of operation, and are suitable for exacting tests. In July 2025, ACM Instruments continues to manufacture its independently packaged single-channel Zero Resistance Ammeters (ZRA) system optimized for testing simple galvanic couples, measuring the galvanic current between pairs of electrodes and assessing localized corrosion within laboratory-based and educational research environments. The compact package equips researchers with a low-cost solution for monitoring small-scale electrochemical activity that doesn't require extensive setup. Hence making single-channel ZRAs the system of choice for standard corrosion research and routine testing of materials worldwide.
Zero Resistance Ammeter Market- Geographical Insights
The North American market of the Zero Resistance Ammeter operates with the availability of a number of Grid Modernization initiatives and development in Testing and Measurement Technologies. In September 2026, according to the U.S. Department of Energy, there are about 9,200 generating units in the US electric grid, with a generating capacity of 1 million megawatts through more than 600,000 miles of transmission lines. As noted by the DOE, due to the aging of the infrastructure of the electricity grid, it is overcapacity and needs modernization in order to ensure reliability, resiliency, efficiency, security, and capability of renewable energy generation. Thus, the constant growth of the North America Zero Resistance Ammeter market is taking
The Asia Pacific region holds a key place in the Zero Resistance Ammeter market due to increasing industrialization and adoption of efficient electrical measurement devices. For example, in September 2025, according to the arXiv Org article entitled Electricity Demand and Grid Impacts of AI Data Centers: Challenges and Prospects, in China, the total electricity usage by data centers was 100-150 terawatt-hours (TWh) in September 2025, which accounts for 1-2% of total electricity usage in China, and total annual usage is estimated to be around 400-600 TWh by 2030, meaning that there will be a fast growth in AI data centers in China. Therefore, there will be a need for efficient grid monitoring, load forecasting, and load management of the electricity system.
The Zero Resistance Ammeter market is being driven by companies who take into account the factors of measurement accuracy, stable low resistance tests, and electrochemical analysis capability. Some of the organizations, such as ACM Instruments, Bank Elektronik, eDAQ, Ivium, and CAMRY, have been concentrating on innovation and development of new technology in order to expand their business in measurement accuracy, stability of low resistance tests, electrochemical analysis capability, and other areas. In October 2025, Bank Elektronik transferred its well-established electrochemical potentiostat product line to PSL Systemtechnik, who purchased the MCP 94 and MCP CaDis multi-channel potentiostats and took over the manufacturing, technical support, and long-term availability of these new products. These strategic developments underscore the industry's drive toward enhanced accuracy, reliability, and sustained product availability.
In April 2026, eDAQ extended the availability of its battery-research test cells in Germany within the framework of a distribution agreement with IPS Elektroniklabor, covering test cells for both solid and liquid electrolyte battery research.
