Landmine identification involves not only finding a landmine in the signal but also identifying the type of landmine, whereas landmine detection determines whether a signal from GPR contains a landmine. Identification therefore involves more steps than detection and reveals more details about a landmine. When a feature from the GPR data is given, detection and identification are carried out by looking up the same feature in the database and obtaining the relevant landmine data.
