Blood gas analysis is performed for critically ill patients suffering from respiratory or metabolic disorders. Blood gas analysis includes measurement of the amount of oxygen, carbon dioxide, and the acidity of pH in the blood as well as concentrations of other parameters such as creatinine, electrolytes, glucose, hemoglobin, and lactate. Blood gas analyzers use electrodes to determine pH, partial pressure of carbon dioxide, and amount of oxygen in the blood. Imbalances in oxygen, carbon dioxide, and pH levels in the blood can indicate the presence of certain medical conditions such as heart failure, hemorrhage, kidney failure, chemical poisoning, uncontrolled diabetes, or drug overdose. Blood gas and electrolyte analyzer include blood gas measuring items (PH, PCO2, and PO2). Electrolyte measuring items (Na+, K+, CH, Ca2+). It is used to detect partial pressure of Carbon Dioxide (PCO2), and partial pressure of Oxygen (PO2) value. Blood gas and electrolyte analyzer is considered the most important tool for diagnosis in patients with either respiratory or metabolic abnormalities. Blood conservation is an important initiative in every clinical diagnostic lab or critical care facility. Therefore, a highly accurate blood gas analyzer can streamline work processes and reduce errors with minimum maintenance. Most blood gas analyzers offer automatic sample mixing and easy sample aspiration with an intuitive user interface built-in and automatic QC for accuracy and regulatory compliance. The high prevalence of chronic diseases and the increasing geriatric population is expected to fuel the growth of the EME blood gas and electrolyte analyzers market over the forecast period.
Increasing rates of geriatrics and chronic diseases including cancer and cardiovascular diseases (CVD) is expected to propel the growth of the EME blood gas and electrolyte analyzers market over the forecast period. For instance, in September 2022, according to World Health Organization (WHO), cardiovascular diseases account for most Noncommunicable diseases (NCD) deaths, or 17.9 million people annually, followed by cancers (9.3 million), chronic respiratory diseases (4.1 million), and diabetes (2.0 million including kidney disease deaths caused by diabetes).
