Air ambulance services or air medical services is a term which is used for the transportation of critically ill patients through air transportation, aeroplane, or helicopter. The aircraft transports the patients to and from healthcare facilities and accident scenes. The aircraft is equipped with advanced functions which allows the air ambulance personnel provide comprehensive prehospital and emergency and critical care to all types of patients during aeromedical evacuation or rescue operations aboard helicopter and propeller aircraft or jet aircraft.
