Southeast Asia is an important region in the world for aquaculture and exports, and is rich in aquatic resources. But there are certain differences in the scale of aquatic industry in 10 Southeast Asian countries. According to the analysis of CRI, Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand aquatic industry scale, Vietnam, for example, Vietnam is currently the world's third largest aquatic exporters, aquatic industry has become an important pillar of its economy. Cambodia and Laos aquaculture industry are smaller, mainly to meet the domestic demand for aquatic products consumption. The rest of the Southeast Asian countries have a certain scale of aquaculture industry.

Overall, the market size of the aquatic industry in Southeast Asian countries has shown an upward trend in recent years, especially with the increase in population and economic development of the countries, the demand for aquatic products will grow steadily.

Southeast Asia in this report includes 10 countries: Singapore, Thailand, Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Myanmar, Brunei, Laos and Cambodia. While Myanmar and Cambodia will have a GDP per capita of less than US$2,000 in 2021. The population and minimum wage levels of each country also vary greatly. Brunei, which has the smallest population, will have a total population of less than 500,000 people in 2021, while Indonesia, which has the largest population, will have a population of about 275 million people in 2021.

According to CRI forecast, the aquatic industry in Southeast Asia will maintain growth from 2023-2032. On the one hand, most Southeast Asian countries are traditional fishing countries, and as global demand for aquatic products continues to grow, capital continues to enter the aquatic industry in Southeast Asia and promote its transformation and upgrading, further promoting the development of the aquatic industry in Southeast Asia. On the other hand, the economic growth in Southeast Asia, the increase in income of residents, the growth in consumption of aquatic products, will also promote the development of the aquatic industry.
