Cycloplegic refraction is routinely performed, particularly in children, to identify refractive abnormalities such as anisometropia, hyperopia, astigmatism, and myopia. Additional evaluations including cover testing, ocular motility assessment, stereopsis testing, and retinal examination help identify associated conditions such as strabismus or visual deprivation and exclude other ocular causes of reduced vision.
