This research analyzes the world silicone market, categorizing it by product type, market, function, and geographical region. It provides a historical analysis of silicone demand in current dollars for each product, market, and function for the years 2013, 2018, and 2023, with projections for 2028 and 2033. The study also presents volume data (in metric tons) for each country and region, as well as for each market and product on a global scale, including annual data for the period 2020-2027.
Furthermore, the research discusses the key strategic and competitive factors influencing the global silicone industry, identifies the industry's major players, and evaluates the global market share. The entire research is contextualized within the economic and market environments of the silicone industry.
For this report, silicones are defined as polymers composed of silicon and oxygen. To prevent duplication, the demand for silicone is calculated at the producer level and includes only basic products such as elastomers, fluids, resins, and gels. These include room temperature (RTV), high temperature/high consistency (HTV or HCR), and liquid silicone rubber (LSR) elastomers; basic siloxane fluids and more specialized products such as emulsions, organically functionalized fluids, and fluorosilicone fluids; resins; gels; foams; and pastes. Siloxanes used as silicone products themselves (as in personal care product formulations) are also included. Foam control agents used in foam insulation are included in the chemicals market, not the construction market.
The market segments analyzed include construction (residential buildings, commercial buildings, and nonbuilding construction); transportation equipment (e.g., motor vehicles, aircraft and space vehicles, boats and ships, railroad equipment, snowmobiles, golf carts, military equipment); electrical equipment (including solar panels cells, semiconductor components, electromechanical equipment, high-voltage insulators, transformers, and ceramic, porcelain, and glass insulators); electronic products (e.g., computer equipment, instruments, electronic components, tablet computers and smartphones, wireless communications equipment, telephone apparatus, radio and television broadcasting equipment, LEDs); personal care (e.g., antiperspirants, deodorants, cosmetics, hair care products, shaving products, shower and bath products, skin care products, sun care products); chemical (including manufacture of polyurethane foam, slips agents, additives, foam control agents); medical and healthcare (e.g., surgical appliances and suppliers, surgical and medical instruments, dental supplies and equipment, ophthalmic goods, laboratory apparatus, pharmaceutical preparations); other markets (e.g., industrial, consumer).
The demand is also analyzed by function, including adhesives and sealants; elastomeric components (e.g., gaskets and seals, hosing and tubing); paints and coatings; lubricants and greases (e.g., heat transfer fluids, dielectric fluids, transmission/hydraulic fluids); and other functions (e.g., emollient and conditioning agents, surfactants, polishes, defoamers, smaller volume functions such as silicone-based cleaners, mold release agents, tissue fillers, coupling agents).
