Entangled networks are quantum networks that generate, distribute, store and consume quantum entanglement between remote nodes. Those nodes can be quantum processors, quantum memories, sensors, clocks or secure end-user terminals. They go beyond today’s trusted-node quantum key distribution (QKD) links, which can only exchange keys. Entangled networks can teleport quantum states between nodes, link quantum computers so they operate as one larger machine, secure communications through entanglement itself, and push networked sensors and clocks beyond classical precision limits. They are the foundation of the quantum internet. They are also emerging as the main way to scale quantum computers, which, like classical supercomputers, will grow by networking many processors rather than building ever-larger single machines.

The commercial market is now taking shape. Today’s revenue comes from entangled-photon sources, single-photon detectors, precision timing and stabilisation systems, quantum memories, network-control software and prototype networking equipment. These are sold mainly to national laboratories, universities, defence agencies and telecom operators running testbeds in North America, Europe and Asia.

Turnkey products are now shipping:

  • Welinq sold its first rack-mounted entangled photon pair source in February 2026.
  • Qunnect supplies warm-vapour memories and entanglement-distribution kits for metro testbeds.
  • Cisco has unveiled a quantum entanglement chip and a universal quantum switch prototype.
  • Deutsche Telekom has distributed entanglement and performed teleportation over its commercial Berlin fibre.

The quantum computing industry is making networking strategic. IonQ’s first acquisition, the assets of Toronto-based Entangled Networks in 2023, was followed by Qubitekk, ID Quantique and Lightsynq. IBM and Cisco plan to network fault-tolerant quantum computers by 2030, and Photonic Inc. has reached a US$2B valuation on a distributed spin-photon architecture.

Significant challenges remain:

  • Fibre loss.
  • Immature quantum repeaters.
  • Inefficient transduction for superconducting qubits.
  • Detector cost and cryogenics.
  • Wavelength mismatch.
  • A lack of standards.

Each of these bottlenecks is also a commercial opportunity for component and system suppliers.

Entangled Networks: Global Market 2027–2037 is an in-depth analysis of the technologies, applications, companies and markets behind the next generation of quantum networking. Many studies treat the quantum internet as a distant scientific vision. This report instead examines the products and applications already turning entanglement-based networking into a real business, and it gives ten-year forecasts for the market.

The report covers every critical enabling technology:

  • Quantum repeaters and memories.
  • Entangled-photon sources and single-photon detectors.
  • Microwave-to-optical transducers and quantum frequency conversion.
  • Timing and stabilisation systems.
  • Optical switching.
  • Satellites.
  • Network software and protocols.

For each, it assesses how its development will shape the market. It analyses distributed quantum computing, quantum data centres, entanglement-based and device-independent QKD, defence and critical-infrastructure security, networked sensing and clocks, and the Quantum Internet of Things. It also covers more than 30 testbeds and trials worldwide.
