Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) arises from the hepatocyte cells in the liver and is the most common primary liver cancer, accounting for approximately 90% of all primary cancers of the liver (Asafo-Agyei and Samant, 2023). HCC has a high mortality rate and is the third leading cause of cancer deaths annually worldwide (Singal, Kanwal and Llovet, 2023). Major risk factors for HCC include infection with the hepatitis B virus (HBV), infection with the hepatitis C virus (HCV), and high alcohol consumption (McGlynn, Petrick and El-Serag, 2021). HCC occurs in approximately 85% of patients with cirrhosis of the liver, a crucial element in the development of HCC. HCC is nearly three times as common in men than women, possibly due to higher infection with HBV and HCV, higher alcohol and cigarette consumption on average, or higher iron levels in men (Nevola et al., 2023).

Scope

  • The model includes a 10-year epidemiological forecast for the diagnosed incident cases, five-year diagnosed prevalent cases, and all-time diagnosed prevalent cases of HCC.
  • Diagnosed incident cases are segmented by age (starting from 18 up to 85 years and older by 5-year age groups) and sex. Additionally, the diagnosed incident cases of HCC are segmented by BCLC stage, Child Pugh stage, HKLC stage, HCC risk factors (hepatitis B, hepatitis C, MASLD/MASH, alcohol), cirrhotic vs non-cirrhotic, and biomarkers. Additionally, the model incudes all-time diagnosed prevalent cases of HCC segmented by BCLC Stage.

Reasons to Buy

The HCC Epidemiology series will allow you to -

  • Develop business strategies by understanding the trends shaping and driving the global HCC markets.
  • Quantify patient populations in the global HCC markets to improve product design, pricing, and launch plans.
  • Organize sales and marketing efforts by identifying the age groups and sex that present the best opportunities for HCC therapeutics in each of the markets covered.
  • Understand the magnitude of the HCC population by age, sex, BCLC stage, Child-Pugh stage, HKLC stage, risk factors, cirrhotic and non-cirrhotic HCC, and biomarkers.
