It enables users to make contactless in-store payments while also supporting online payments. Currently, Samsung Wallet is only supported by SEB. Meanwhile, in October 2022, the EU approved the merger of two mobile payment solutions: Denmark-based MobilePay and Norway-based Vipps. As a result of the merger, the combined entity now has 11 million users and over 400,000 partner merchants across the Nordic region.
  • Digital-only banks are gradually making inroads into the Danish banking space. Founded in 2015, Danish fintech Lunar received a banking license in August 2019 and currently has more than 500,000 users in Denmark, Sweden, and Norway, including 13,000 business customers. Meanwhile, in January 2022, UK-based Revolut launched its banking operations in 10 European countries (including Denmark). The bank offers Standard, Plus, Premium, and Metal bank accounts. Account holders receive a debit card that can be used for cash withdrawals and payments, with Metal account holders receiving cashback on purchases..
  • Straksclearing (also known as Express Transfers or RealTime 24/7) is a real-time payment platform available in Denmark since November 2014. However, with the aim of providing an integrated cross-border payment system for individuals in the Nordic region, in 2017, Danske Bank, Handelsbanken, Nordea, OP Financial Group, SEB, and Swedbank started collaborating to develop P27 Nordic Payments Platform. The solution is set to go live in 2023 across Nordic countries including Denmark.
