Capital One Software: A Plan to Commercialize Internally Built Software

This IDC Perspective describes Capital One's recent launch of a division designed to commercial internally built software and offers advice to enterprises that similarly are considering commercializing internal software. "Many enterprises lack the vision to recognize the commercialization potential of software that they've built internally," said Nancy Gohring, research director for IDC's Future of Digital Innovation agenda program. "Capital One Software offers an example of an enterprise effort to create a new revenue stream by bringing to market software the financial services company initially developed to solve an internal problem."
