This IDC study examines the evolving antiscam and antispam strategies deployed by communications service providers (CSPs) across the Asia/Pacific region. As mobile usage surges, message- and voice-based scams and phishing attacks have escalated, prompting CSPs to take decisive action with AI/ML-powered detection and prevention solutions. Some CSPs are already implementing real-time detection, blocking, and alerting mechanisms to safeguard users. The growing fraud landscape also presents new opportunities for CSPs to drive adoption of network application programming interfaces (APIs), such as device status, location, and security-focused APIs, thus strengthening end-to-end fraud prevention."As Asia/Pacific's mobile-first revolution accelerates, CSPs stand as digital gatekeepers in the race to outpace an ever-evolving digital fraud landscape. To protect their networks and customers, CSPs must continuously upgrade their technology. Progress lies in collaboration among governments, industries, regulators, and CSPs to drive the next wave of antiscam and antispam solutions," says Swathi Arunaa, senior research analyst, Telecom and IoT Practice, IDC Asia/Pacific.
