The medical aesthetics market is valued at USD 35 billion in 2023 growing at a CAGR of 9.3% during the forecast period 2023-2035.

The growing demand for medical aesthetic solutions in recent years can be attributed to various factors, including the desire to maintain a youthful appearance, the influence of social media, technological advancements, celebrity endorsements, and the support of beauticians and medical professionals. The COVID pandemic has also contributed significantly towards the increased number of annual aesthetic treatments. Medical aesthetics is a well-established branch of modern medicine that primarily focuses on enhancing the cosmetic appearance of an individual without clinical surgery. These treatments are mainly used for anti-aging purposes by reducing fine lines and wrinkles, lifting flabby skin, and skin rejuvenation. Medical aesthetic procedures can also help in reducing excess fat and cellulite, unwanted hair, and spider veins. According to a study conducted by the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS), over 15 million invasive aesthetic procedures and 19 million non-invasive aesthetic procedures have been performed globally in 2022. It is worth mentioning that nearly 90% of the industry clientele are women, however, these aesthetic procedures are also gaining popularity among men. In fact, men have shown an increased interest in the majority of major surgical and nonsurgical procedures, with the top cosmetic surgical procedures for men being rhinoplasty, eyelid surgery, cheek implant, breast reduction, liposuction, tummy tuck, and ear surgery. The reasons behind the growth of the male aesthetic market tend to be the same as those that have led to the growth of the female aesthetic market, including the desire for natural-looking results, minimally invasive procedures, and increased awareness of appearance.

Due to the high demand for these procedures, medical aesthetics companies have developed medical aesthetics products & devices. The main focus of medical aesthetics companies is to develop non-surgical or minimally invasive solutions. The majority of these treatments don't require a full surgical procedure. This means less pain and discomfort, fewer risks, shorter hospital stays, and long-lasting results. Some of the most common minimally invasive treatments are Botulism toxins and aesthetic filler. These treatments are mainly used for improving glabellar lines and tightening the skin. However, the advantages of aesthetic treatments aren't only cosmetic. They also help in solving other common healthcare problems. Botulism toxin is used to control sweating and migraines. Body contouring devices, laser hair removal, tattoo removal, and nail treatments are some of the other common non-surgical treatments. Body contouring devices are used for tightening the skin, reducing fat, and reducing cellulite.

Medical aesthetics treatments can be performed at a medical aesthetic clinic or at a medical spa. Dermatologists, plastic surgeons, doctors, nurse practitioners, registered nurses and aestheticians are among the medical professionals who can provide medical aesthetics treatments. It is interesting to note that more than 70% of the present medical aesthetics market is managed by hospitals, clinics and medical spas. In addition, South Korea, the plastic surgery capital in the world, is the country with the highest cosmetic surgeries per capita. This is because of the well-established cosmetic surgery infrastructure and the skilled medical professionals who encourage aesthetics medical tourism to South Korea. The main concern is that some medical professionals and the medical aesthetics companies are violating the regulatory guidelines, which can lead to side-effects. Therefore, it is extremely important for the patient to undergo medical aesthetics treatment by a licensed medical professional, using certified aesthetic devices, to avoid any such risks and complications. By overcoming these obstacles and meeting the increasing demand for medical aesthetics services, medical aesthetics companies are projected to see tremendous growth in the coming years.
