The Clamp-on Ultrasonic Flowmeter Market size was valued at US$1,245.87 Million in 2024, expanding at a CAGR of 7.4% from 2025 to 2032.
A clamp-on ultrasonic flowmeter is a type of flow-measuring device that is non-intrusive and can find out the flow rate of a liquid in a pipe by sending and receiving ultrasonic sound waves through the wall of the pipe, without coming in direct contact with the fluid. The transducers of the meter are fixed externally on the surface of the pipe and either measure the difference in travel time (the transit-time principle) or the shift in frequency (the Doppler principle) of the ultrasonic signals that are moving along with and against the flow of the liquid. This difference in time or frequency is directly proportional to the velocity of the fluid, and thus the flow rate can be calculated with precision. Instead of being cut, the ultrasonic flowmeters that are clamped on do not need any of the listed activities (pipe cutting, maceration, or penetration); because of these factors, they are highly recommended in hygiene, safety, minimal maintenance, and uninterrupted operation critical applications, such as water and wastewater management, oil and gas, chemical processing, power, and HVAC systems.
Clamp-on Ultrasonic Flowmeter Market- Market Dynamics
Industrial automation & digital integration
The primary reasons behind the clamp-on ultrasonic flowmeter industry growth that comes from industrial automation and digital integration are real-time monitoring, operational efficiency improvements, and data-driven decision-making. The industry is going towards automated control systems, smart sensors, and connected devices, which leads to a greater necessity for reading and monitoring technologies that can be easily integrated with digital platforms. Integration of digital makes it not only talking that the equipment is speaking to SCADA, DCS, and industrial IoT platforms but also the seeing of the entire process, predictive maintenance, and reliability of operations are enhanced to a great extent. The manufacturing industry is on a path to a revolution that more and more humans are being taken out of the process, thus reducing their mistakes, lowering the cost of operation, and improving safety; this, in turn, makes the advanced industrial solutions more and more acceptable and the overall industry growth quicker.
By Product Type
The portable clamp-on ultrasonic flowmeters market is witnessing a significant increase in its revenues. A number of industries are searching for measurement solutions that are non-invasive, easy to move, and suitable for temporary use during diagnostics and maintenance. Thus, portable flow meters facilitate the monitoring of flow, fault detection, and validation by the technicians without the need for system shutdowns or installation of intrusive mechanisms, hence they save a lot on downtimes and inconveniencies. This is especially vital in the case of the water and wastewater, oil and gas, and industrial process control sectors, where such nature processes demand constant operation. These sectors bear a high cost of installation and upkeep as they are bound to continue operating, thus only water and wastewater, oil and gas, and industrial process control are such sectors where installation and maintenance would entail significant costs and losses. The interplay of rapid installation and the gradual adoption of automation and digitization is the core reason for the upward trend in the market of portable units. Furthermore, the recent trend of high-end flow measurement technologies coupled with the industry's focus on efficiency, safety, and adherence to regulations are among the factors that render the portable segment very appealing. Companies are even ready to deploy precise measurement devices that can function in diverse situations and conditions in the field. All these reasons are contributing to the ever-increasing demand for portable clamp-on ultrasonic flow meters.
Clamp-on Ultrasonic Flowmeter Market- Geographical Insights
The Asia Pacific is expected to dominate the market. The regional upsurge is attributed to the growing manufacturing sector, urban growth, and the government policies aimed at smart city development and resource management which together are speeds up the use of non-invasive flow measurement technologies. Besides, the increasing focus on industrial automation, digital monitoring, and regulatory compliance in utilities, oil & gas, and process industries has made it easier for clamp-on ultrasonic flowmeters to gain acceptance due to their hassle-free installation and short downtime.
The competition in the clamp-on ultrasonic flowmeter market is mainly driven by a combination of big instrumentation companies and specialized non-intrusive providers: global companies like Siemens, Emerson (with the FLEXIM brand included), KROHNE, ABB, Baker Hughes, Endress+Hauser, Yokogawa, Fuji Electric, and Badger Meter lead the way in terms of product innovation, service networks, and enterprise sales, while the large group of Chinese and regional OEMs are providing low-priced portable units for volume applications.
In October 2025, Malema(TM), part of PSG and Dover and a leading provider of flow meter technologies for use in industrial and semiconductor applications, announced the global launch of the new Malema M-3100 Series Clamp-On Ultrasonic Flow Meter. Engineered for precise fluid velocity measurement in liquid-filled closed conduits, the M-3100 Series is a high-performance, non-invasive ultrasonic transit-time flow measurement system, ideal for the most demanding semiconductor applications.
