Sack kraft is used for packaging products and has high tensile energy absorption (TEA), high porosity, high stiffness, and excellent printability as compared to conventional packaging materials. Increasing demand for biodegradable packaging materials in various application such as cement and building industry is driving growth of the sack kraft paper market. However, the lack of the availability of raw materials like wood, is expected to be one of the major restraining factors for the market growth.
Asia Pacific is expected to be the dominant region in the sack kraft paper market over the forecast period. This is mainly attributed to increasing construction industry in this region, owing to increasing infrastructural and construction activities. According to India Brand Equity Foundation (IBEF), trust established by the Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, Emami Ltd., one of the leading FMCG companies (fast-moving consumer goods), is expected to invest US$ 1.32 billion in 2017, to increase their production capacity of the cement from 2.4 million tons to 20 million tons by 2022. This is expected to positively affect the market, as sack kraft paper is significantly used for cement packaging.
Increasing environmental concerns related to use of plastics has urged various organizations and governments to focus on the development of sustainable packaging materials. Hence, plastic ban by government is positively fueling the sack kraft paper market growth. As per EPA, the Government of Italy has completely banned the distribution of plastic bags that are not from biodegradable sources.
