With an increase of 30% in 2020 over 2019, with different performances worldwide, and an expected further growth for 2021, the online channel currently represents a relevant share of the world mattress retail market, surpassing the value of US$ 10 billion. The United States is by far the largest market for online mattress sales. In Europe, the smallest markets as Spain registered the highest growth rates in online mattress sales for 2020. However, traditional markets as Germany and the UK have continued to grow at extraordinary rates (double-digit growth). The Asia Pacific area is among the fast-growing and promising areas for online mattress sales. China leads the e-commerce mattress market of the region.
The online mattress market is fragmented and highly competitive. Given the increasing interest in the online mattress business by different industry operators, it is reasonable to predict a greater competition is expected in the coming years.
