Worldwide Hard Disk Drive 2Q25 Preliminary Shipment Results

This IDC Market Perspective provides a preliminary unit shipment range for worldwide hard disk drive (HDD) units by HDD drive class and estimated supplier market share for 2Q25."HDD shipments are expected to increase in 2Q25 as demand continues to grow from cloud service providers for the remainder of 2025," according to Ed Burns, research director, Worldwide Hard Disk Drive and Storage Technologies at IDC. "Even with continued uncertainty around the trade policy, HDD industry exabyte demand remains robust and will likely remain above supply for the remainder of the calendar year."
