The Global Fish Hydrolysate Market was valued at USD 398.56 million in 2025 and is projected to reach USD 727.07 million by 2036, growing at a CAGR of 5.64% during the forecast period (2025-2036).
Rising Global Aquaculture Production
The Global Fish Hydrolysate Market is strongly driven by the rapid growth of aquaculture. The main reason is the rise in demand for high-quality aquafeed, since this type of feed often contains highly digestible protein ingredients that enhance nutrient uptake, improve feed palatability, and accelerate fish growth. By 2035, an OECD-FAO report called Agricultural Outlook 2026-2035 estimates that aquaculture production will exceed 121 million tons. This would be an average of an 18% rise from the 2023-2025 baseline, thus bringing a significant increase in fish hydrolysate application within aquafeed blends.

In North America, the fish hydrolysate market was worth USD 136.5 million in 2025. Europe takes a lead with a 36.5% market share and this is mainly due to good quality feed and valorisation opportunities for fish residues. The region of Asia-Pacific, on the other hand, is expected to grow at a 6.35% CAGR, whereas South America, Middle East, and Africa will likely offer some promising new avenues.
Strategic Partnership to Expand Marine-Based Ingredients
February 2025 marked a partnership between Symrise AG and HBC (Norway-based) to bring salmon ingredient-derived products in human health and pet nutrition to the market. Symrise will provide their global distribution network in a way that can be used alongside the clinically proven marine ingredients developed by HBC (a joint venture between the Norwegian University of Science and Letters and Statoil). Besides this, the cooperation will cover plans to transform the HBC Berkak site into an advanced facility for enzymatic hydrolysis. This upgrade is expected to more than double the present capacity and at the same time allow for the development of marine-based ingredients on a larger scale.
Aquaculture Expansion Strengthens Demand for Functional Feed Ingredients
The rapid expansion of aquaculture around the world continues to create opportunities for the Global Fish Hydrolysate Market, as producers of feed increasingly switch to highly digestible protein ingredients to achieve optimal utilization of nutrients and palatability and, in turn, improve fish performance. A growing demand for specialized hatchery feed, as well as for feed in the early phase of the life of the fish (nursery and post-larval phases) further supports the market potential of fish hydrolysates.
