North America Respiratory Monitoring Market - Segmented by Type of Device, Geography - Growth, Trends, and Forecast (2018 - 2023)
Published: April 1, 2018 Content info: 90 Pages
Description

The North America respiratory monitoring market is expected to witness a CAGR of 12.5%, during the forecast period. North America has emerged as a key region boosting the sales of the respiratory monitoring devices. In this way, North America is a prominent market driver.

High Prevalence of Tobacco Smoking

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) data, cigarette smoking is the leading cause of death in the United States. Tobacco use kills more than 4,80,000 Americans each year with more than 41,000 of these deaths from exposure to secondhand smoke. In addition, smoking-related illness in the United States costs more than USD 300 billion a year, including nearly USD 170 billion in direct medical care for adults and USD 156 billion in lost productivity. A large number of the teenagers group has also been found affected by the use of tobacco smoking. Hence, as the number of the tobacco smoking is increasing for all age groups and more number of people are getting affected each day, which is increasing prevalence and thus, driving the respiratory monitoring market.

The other factors include rapid growth in geriatric population, rising prevalence of respiratory diseases, urbanization, and growing pollution levels and the development of advanced technologies.

High Price of the Monitoring Devices

The average cost of the CPAP machine (continuous positive airway pressure) ranges from about USD 500 - USD 3000, with an estimated average price around USD 850 in North America. Due to the high cost, some of the Tier II and Tier III companies having low revenue and less operational values cannot afford these devices. Hence, the cost of acquiring the respiratory medical devices is very high for them. Therefore, due to this increasing price the adoption rate is being restricted to only the Tier I companies, which is likely to impede the growth of this market.

The other factor also, includes the reimbursement concerns.

North America is expected to Grow

North America currently dominates the market for respiratory monitoring devices and is expected to continue its stronghold for a few more years. The North American respiratory monitoring market is segmented on the basis of diagnostic & monitoring devices (spirometers, sleep test devices, gas analyzers, pulse oximeters, peak flow meters, and capnographs), and region (USA, Canada, and Others).
