According to TrendForce 2026 Global Automotive LED Market- Lighting and Display Product Trend, pressured by political uncertainty, shifting trade policies, and inflated raw material costs, automotive lighting suppliers are facing severe profitability compression and margin constraints. To overcome these challenges, automotive lighting manufacturers are actively optimizing their cost structures, while accelerating the transition toward high-value-added digital lighting systems integrated with both software-defined vehicles (SDVs) and ADAS platforms, to achieve customized dynamic lighting effects and enhance active safety driving functions. Software-defined vehicles (SDVs) are expected to drive the automotive lighting and automotive LED markets to USD 47.070 billion and 4.512 billion by 2030, respectively.
Under TrendForce’s analysis, ADB headlight-equipped vehicles are likely to reach 22.8 million units by 2030, representing a 23.8% penetration rate. Regionally, Europe demonstrates the strongest momentum toward ADB headlight adoption, with penetration estimated to reach 30.9% by 2030. China is forecast to follow with 29.1%.
Featuring high resolution, high luminous efficacy, a flexible illumination area, and independently controllable pixels, Micro LED ADB headlights provide drivers with active safety lighting features, including adaptive light carpet, width-assist, high-alert road risk signaling, and courtesy yield signal. Additionally, these headlights can integrate weather conditions to enhance driving safety. Micro LED headlights have been officially adopted by Volkswagen, Porsche, SAIC Volkswagen, NIO, Opel, Audi, Zeekr, Mercedes-Benz. According to TrendForce, automakers typically demand an average pixel count of 20,000 for Micro LED headlights; on the other hand, more advanced products come with 70,000-100,000 pixels, slated for market release from 2028 to 2030 to replace DLP headlights.
Intelligent signal displays (ISDs) have emerged with a growing trend toward personalization, communication displays, driver assistance, and safety upgrading. Current use cases include IM Motors, GWM’s Mecha Dragon, Changan NEVO’s E07, Lynk & Co’s 900, and BMW’s iX3 models. Prevailing regulations now restrict the use of front communication displays and the presentation of any animated text / graphics when the vehicle is in motion. However, when the vehicle remains stationary, intelligent signal displays can provide diverse interactive display functions, such as pedestrian crossing indicators, vehicle malfunction alerts, charging status updates, and hazard warnings. According to TrendForce’s analysis, intelligent signal displays are set to advance toward P0.8-P2.5 pixel pitches and Mini LED COB technology.

Intelligent ambient lights have evolved from providing basic atmospheric illumination to creating dynamic visual effects. These effects not only convey warning signals, communications, and interactive guidance but also enhance design aesthetics, thereby improving driving safety and comfort. ISELED intelligent ambient lights were first adopted by BMW and HKMC, followed by Zeekr and NIO. The OSIRE E3731i intelligent ambient LED supports ams OSRAM’s Open System Protocol (OSP), which enables microcontrollers to send commands and access to each OSIRE E3731i LED, thereby achieving high-precision color calibration and temperature compensation. Current use cases include Lynk & Co 08, Zeekr 007, Zeekr 009 Grand, Zeekr MIX, and NIO ES9. Moreover, following the release of the SAE J3134_202512 standard, it is anticipated that more automakers will adopt ADS marker lamps. Automakers that have adopted these lamps include Mercedes-Benz, Li Auto, Xiaomi, BAIC, and AITO.
Driven by trends toward HDR, local dimming, a wide color gamut, and curved screens, automakers that began adopting Mini LED automotive displays between 2022-2025 include NIO, General Motors, Li Auto, BYD, Ford, Geely, Stellantis, Hongqi, Xiaomi, IM Motors, and SAIC-Audi. In addition, Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and HKMC are set to adopt Mini LED automotive display technology from 2026-2027. Besides BMW and Xiaomi, OEMs across China and Korea also plan to implement panoramic HUDs.
