Kitchen furniture trade worldwide, 2014-2019 data and
2020-2023 forecasts. US$ milllion and % change
After a slowdown in 2015, the world trade has been increasing to a pick of almost US$ 7 in 2018 (in current US$). In 2019, the international trade of kitchen furniture recorded a contraction of 6.4% due to political frictions, especially between the United States and China, and a general slowdown of the economy.
Overall, considering a mid-time perspective, the international trade of kitchen furniture has kept growing with an average annual rate of growth of 4% in US$ since 2009, reaching a value of US$ 6.5 billion in 2019 (Eur 5.8 billion). According to CSIL forecast, after the 2020 drop caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, the world trade of kitchen furniture is expected to reach US$ 6.6 billion by 2023.
About 63% of the world exports of kitchen furniture come from European countries. The United States, on the other hand, confirms as the largest importing market. After a positive four-year trend, the US imports dropped significantly in 2019. Such a contraction was mainly caused by the trade policies pursued by the US administration. As result, China still remained the largest supplier but it lost 14 percentage point in term of market share.
