Worldwide Hard Disk Drive 3Q25 Preliminary Shipment Results

This IDC Market Perspective provides a preliminary unit shipment range for worldwide hard disk drive (HDD) units by HDD drive class and estimated supplier market share for 3Q25."HDD shipments are expected to increase in 3Q25 as demand continues to grow from cloud service providers and HDD suppliers expand production capacity for the remainder of 2025," according to Ed Burns, research director, Worldwide Hard Disk Drive and Storage Technologies at IDC. "As the AI investment boom continues, resulting in an extremely robust datacenter buildout, HDD industry exabyte demand remains strong and will likely remain above supply for the remainder of the calendar year and into 2026."
